How old does a child in Alabama have to be to decide what parent they want to live with?

In Alabama the child has absolutely NO CHOICE. The child MAY testify, but the parents' attorneys would have to subpoena the child. That is RARE.How old does a child in Alabama have to be to decide what parent they want to live with?

don't know about Alabama but in Michigan it is 12
You don't get to choose. That'd be ridiculous. One parent may be more strict, so in turn you decide to go live with the other?

It's who's more suitable, and if they're relatively the same the child almost always goes to the mother.
