What would a cop say to a parent whos kidjust died in an accidident & they are telling them for the first time?

is there a set structure and procedure or what? What would a cop say to a parent whos kidjust died in an accidident %26amp; they are telling them for the first time?
There is a procedure, and each department would handle it in their own way. Normally, it would be an experience officer or someone who understands the gravity of the moment, and uses tact, compassion and empathy. What would a cop say to a parent whos kidjust died in an accidident %26amp; they are telling them for the first time?
I haven't done it personally but was with another officer that had to do it. Their daughter was killed in a car accident. We called our department priest and all 3 of us went to the house together (you NEVER call them on the phone). When her mother opened the door and saw the priest (and us) she knew right away it was bad news. You just try to be as calm as possible and tell the parents that their daughter has passed away. The priest helped out a lot. Once everything got a little calmer you explain briefly how she died and then drive them to the hospital. It was probably one of the lowest points of my career and I hope I never have to do it again.
They're usually told how to do it.

I know an officer who's had to do that, I guess they do that quite a bit. He had to tell the parents of a young man who killed himself. I don't know if I could ever do something like that. . .
There is a set procedure and the police are fully trained in this. Certainly in the UK

If a Police officer calls at your home, you will know something must have happened. They do not make social calls.
What do you think they would say?
yo what up, im da popo your son is dead, 5-0 out!
