Why are 50% of the babies born to women 30 and under born to a single parent at or below the poverty level?

In 1960, the percentage was 6%, not 50%.Why are 50% of the babies born to women 30 and under born to a single parent at or below the poverty level?

BTW, its not 50%, it's more like 18%, but it's higher than in 1960.


1. it's easier for women to be independent of a man. Shows you how bad men treat women, given the economic freedom they'd rather be without a man and his money than with him and take his beatings.


2. Abortion is demonized in this country. Women actually think they are killing their baby, while they are NOT. Not medically, and not legally. But the ReichWingers have managed to fearmonger young girls into thinking that abortion is murder. so women choose to not abort, which impoverishes them. Babies are a bundle of joy but cost about 25,000 dollars per year (unless you're a neoKKKon, they save a lot by not educating their kids)
My dear departed dad used to always say to me and my sister that it doesn't take any brains to get pregnant, it takes brains not to get pregnant.


I also see, quite sadly, a decline in morals in the US.


I also wonder if some young woman see having a child as a way to get supported by the government and not get a real job?????
It is called welfare nation--no personal self control--I want what I want and if I do not have to be fully responsible for my actions (physically and financially) who is going to stop me--hence the you pay for my self indulgent desires--it is called moral decay of a society.
Because society does not discourage it like it used to.





Interesting as well is the fact that The Pill and legalized abortion seem to have been associated with a rise in out-of-wedlock births, not the opposite. Perhaps these developments resulted in people having sex much more often.
i cant speak for every kid born but from the ones i see in my town the young ones are having kids and the mother single herself just sends her to the welfare office to start another generation off on gov assistance
Because welfare is now considered the norm. We are creating a race of slaves and the Democrats love the chit out of it. Future voters.

In 1960 the average age to get married was also around 22.





There's changing social mores and obviously a lot of irresponsible men out there.
They had shotgun weddings in those days. When women got pregnant, the guy got married, whether he wanted to or not.
No fault divorce, welfare programs that reward unwed mothers and punish family units, social programming through public schools that undermines the values and morals taught in the home.
